    The gathering of world-class kapis shells and other similar species of shells is now banned in Capiz. The ban came after Mayor Antonio del Rosario signed into law an ordinance passed by the city council to save the famous shells from extinction. Meanwhile, officials of Tigbauan Iloilo and the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (Seafdec) launched the seeding of kapis breeders in the Tigbauan are made into lampshades, home decoration items and replacement for window glass both for export and domestic sale.
