The damage by the tidal surge that hit Iloilo has swelled to P18 million. This was the figure released by Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC). Jerry Bionat, PDRRMC executive director, said that strong winds and subsequent tidal surges last May 28 affected an estimated area of some 140 kilometers. The damage was only initially recorded in the towns of Estancia, Barotac Nuevo, Carles, and Iloilo City.
