    Excerpt
Bauang, La Union- After the completion of a seawall, also a flood control project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), in the coastal Barangay Pilar of this town, local residents are optimistic that this will prevent the village from being totally washed away from the map. Pilar's village councilor Protacio Cabueñas revealed that the 15-hectares due to erosion caused by strong waves brought by past storm surges and typhoons. Some of our constituents already transferred to the nearby barangay of Santiago because there is no more space to built houses here in Pilar. We already transferred thrice from the original site of our houses near the seashore. Seawaters eaten up almost a kilometer from the total area of our village," Cabueñas said.
