The diesel-driven paddle wheel that SEAFDEC/AQD (Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center/Aquaculture Department ) has fabricated is attracting prawn growers. The long arm paddle wheel is a must in intensive and semi-intensive prawn farming but the high power cost and maintenance have become a constraint in prawn farming. This life support system was tested in its recent run at the SEAFDEC/AQD Dumangas Brackishwater Station (DBS) and was proven to be even more economically efficient than the electric-driven.
