    Excerpt
A government-hosted Southeast Asian center based in Tigbauan town has refined nursery technique for producing fry of the native "hito" (catfish). The research headway was achieved by the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD). Raising of catfish in ponds and tanks can contribute to the country's animal protein needs, it was stressed by the Los Baños-based Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Research and Development (PCAMRD), which monitors fisheries R&D in the country.
