    Excerpt
With the likelihood of overextraction of groundwater here during the El Nino period, there is danger that fresh water will become scarce in Western Visayas. "Over extraction can lead to loss in freshwater resources," warned Leo Van Juguan, Regional Director of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau in Region IV (MGB-6). In particular, the MGB-6 warning alert is directed at coastal areas in Akaln, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces.
