The Bacolod Mangrove Reforestation and Protection Program Ordinance authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. was recently approved by the City Council. Gamboa, who chairs the Council’s Committee on Environment and Ecology said the Ordinance is aimed at restoring Bacolod’s coastal areas which have been damaged by “economic and social effects of spoilage.” The ordinance is also aimed at establishing mangrove reforestation to lessen dependence on coastal artificial reefs.
