Mindanaoan lawmakers are calling on the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to interven and stop overfishing and the depletion of marine resources in Panguil Bay in Lanao del Norte. Lanao del Norte Reps. Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo and Abdullah Dimaporo said the BFAR should ensure the development, improvement, management and conservation of the fisheries and aquatic resources in the country. "Over the years, Panguil Bay has been subjected to divided governance among municipalities , unregulated resource uses, minimal interventions and lack of holistic resource and environmental management program which greatly challenge the sustainability of the Panguil Bay and the livelihood of the marginalized fisherfolk," they said.en
