The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is facilitating the implementation of a six-year strategic framework for Mindanao’s agriculture sector that seeks to stir “inclusive growth and sustained peace” in the island region, a FAO statement announced yesterday. The statement said the FAO has recently convened donor community members to mobilize resources and fund the implementation of the Mindanao Strategic Programme for Agriculture and Agribusiness (MSPAA). All MSPAA projects are designed to increase production and productivity, and promote appropriate technologies on new crop varieties, better livestock breeds and fishery/aquaculture species, employing technical measures towards effective responses to climate change impacts and natural disasters, it added.en
