    Excerpt
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Director Sonia Seville advised fishermen along shores where once there were abundant harvests of lampirong (Placuna placenta) or kapis shells to "wait a little bit more" until said species has revived. Seville made this remark as demand for lampirong is mounting as it serves well for food supply, specifically protein needs, and the shell craft industry that earns dollars. Causes for the depletion of population includes over collection. Vulnerable to this is inclusion of undersized lampirong measuring less than ten centimeters in diameter.
