DOT targets one farm tourism site in every town
Excerpt
In its drive to empower farmers, the Department of Tourism (DOT) aims to establish one farm tourism site in every town in the country. Undersecretary Silvino Tejada said this is a long term goal that the agency envisions to provide income opportunities to farmers. DOT-6 Regional Director Helen Catalbas said she is optimistic that Western Visayas will achieve the goal, claiming that the region is now second to Calabarzon in the number of agri-tourism sites. Catalbas said they are eyeing fish farms in tandem with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
