Far beyond its weaning stage, the survival of a female baby dugong (sea cow) that was fished out from the seashore of Igang, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras is now at the public's mercy. Information gathered at the Office of the Protected Area for Wildlife Conservation Zone Management Council (PAWCZMC) in Western Visayas revealed that the baby dugong was fished out last April 24, 2004. After that, it was immediately turned over to a Marine Park Station in Guimaras and was later transferred to the office of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Council (SEAFDEC) in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
