    Excerpt
Far beyond its weaning stage, the survival of a female baby dugong that was fished out from the seashore of Igang, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras is now at the public's mercy. Information gathered at the Office of the Protected Area for Wildlife Conservation Zone Management Council (PAWCZMC) in Western Visayas revealed that the baby was fished out last month and was immediately turned over to a Marine Park Station in Guimaras and later transferred to the office of Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Council (SEAFDEC) in Tigbauan, Iloilo. Baby Dugong bore signs of bruises believed to be caused by her being entangled into a fishing net.
