local.seafdecaqd.extractThe province of Leyte is Eastern Visayas’ biggest fish producer in the fourth quarter of 2018, the Philippine Statistics Authority’s Regional Statistical Service Office (RSSO), reported here over the weekend. Wilma A. Perante, PSA regional director, said Leyte produced 9,585 metric tons (MT) of fish, comprising 31.5 percent of the region’s production. Samar ranked second at 7,650 MT, while Biliran had the smallest volume at 1,227 MT. Perante the region’s fishing industry posted a 3.9 percent increase in production, from 29,306 MT in the same quarter of 2017 to 30,461 MT a year later, Perante said.en
