A "major overhaul" of the structure and operations of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (Seafdec/AQD) will be implemented shortly, including the retrenchment of personnel mostly from the Research Division. AQD chief Dr. Rolando Platon said in yesterday's press conference in Iloilo City, where he was joined by Dan Baliao, head of administration and finance division; Dr. Teodora Bagarinao, head of training and information division; and Demet Estenor, head of the technology verification section. Platon made the announcement even as the scientists and other research staff vowed to continue protest actions for his ouster, claiming that the AQD chief not only mismanaged the department but committed irregularities as well.
