The Department of Agriculture (DA) has launched a marine finfish hatchery in Misamis Occidental with the assistance of the provincial and Australian governments and the Southeast Asia Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC). Costing about P8.8 million, the hatchery was inaugurated recently by President Arroyo, Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap, Misamis Occidental Gov. Loreto Ocampos and Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Rod Smith. Dr. Joebert Toledo, SEAFDEC chief, said his agency provides technical support and technology for the project apart from exercising overall supervision.en
