    Excerpt
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said yesterday that the oil spill believed to have come from the sunken M/V Sportivo reached Jordan town in Guimaras. Commodore Athelo Ybañez, commander of the PCG Western Visayas district, said that the oil leak reached the shoreline of Hoskyn, Jordan. "We have seen rocks and debris contaminated with bunker oil. There are spots on it," he said. He pointed out that oil leak possibly came from one of the fuel valves and pipelines of the cargo vessel, contrary to the claim of the ship's captain that these were closed before they abandoned it.
