local.descriptionNumerous projects have been implemented by the government to aid Filipino fisherfolks and one of these is the artificial reefs project in Miagao, Iloilo. The artificial reefs project aimed to address the depleting fishing grounds in the coastal barangays of Miagao. Five years after the deployment of the first batch of reefs, there was significant improvement in the number of fishes populating the marine sanctuaries at Damilisan and Lanutan villages.
