Numerous projects have been implemented by the government to aid Filipino fisherfolks and one of these is the artificial reefs project in Miagao, Iloilo. The artificial reefs project aimed to address the depleting fishing grounds in the coastal barangays of Miagao. Five years after the deployment of the first batch of reefs, there was significant improvement in the number of fishes populating the marine sanctuaries at Damilisan and Lanutan villages. "Ang mga divers from province and ga-monitor sang status kung nagdamo gid man ang isda kg may mga video sila nga nakuha nga nagdamo gid man," said Eden Nequia, agricultural technologist of the Office of the Municipal Agriculturists-Fisheries in Miagao.
