The Iloilo provincial government is eyeing to establish the first blue crab hatchery in Iloilo in 2018 at Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC) in Concepcion town. Provincial Agriculture Office head Dr. Ildefonso Toledo said they are just waiting for the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. and the NIPSC administration. A P5-million budget was already allotted for the facility, which will be completed within three months. The hatchery will also serve as a research facility for crab production.
