    The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Central Visayas will prioritize the long-term protection and management of coastal and marine ecosystems in the region. Eddie Llamedo, chief of the DENR regional office’s planning management division told Manila Bulletin setting up a network of marine protected areas (MPAs) or sanctuaries is one of the top programs of the Duterte administration. Llamedo said the 10-year program which will be launched next year seeks to ensure the sustainability of coastal resources and protect them from environmental threats.
