A doable plan for the development of the eel industry in the country formulated following a meeting of the technical experts from the bureau of fisheries and other concerned agencies held here recently. National Eel Focal Person, Dr. Evelyn Ame, concurrent chief of the Training Division of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Region 2, said Tuesday that the proposed interventions focused on the sustainable utilization and conservation of eel resources. Dr. Ame said that Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Emmanuel Piñol committed a fund amounting to R20 million for development of the eel industry.
