The shellfish samples collected from Cambatutay bay in Samar and Carigara Bay in Leyte tested positive for red tide toxin, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR-8) announced in a new advisory recently. In a laboratory report dated last Thursday, Cambatutay Bay and Carigara bay were found positive for Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) toxin while the coastal waters of Irong-Irong Bay was found positive for saxitoxin which causes PSP.
