| local.description | The Department of Agriculture will conduct its first public hearing for the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Philippine Fisheries Code next week in an effort to implement measures that will curb illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUUF) and avert possible ban of the country’s export of marine products. Already, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has set the first public consultation with all industry stakeholders on April 13 and 14 of the new legislation Republic Act 10654, which lapsed into law on February 27 this year. The law, which took effect last March 27, has called for the crafting of its IRR within 6 months from its effectivity. | en |
