The House of Representatives has assured approval on final reading of the measure establishing the country’s archipelagic sea lanes in the wake of continued failure of diplomatic negotiations to resolve the territorial issues on the West Philippines sea affecting the Philippines, China and other neighboring countries. Hopes are high for the enactment of the fourth and newest version of the proposed Archipelagic Sea Lanes Law in the Philippines as the proposed measure would allow the Philippines wider latitude in identifying the archipelagic sea lanes and air routes in the country’s archipelagic waters. A companion measure, House Bill 4889, or the Philippine Maritimes Zones Act, was approved earlier.en
