    The Department of Environment and Natural Resources regional office 8 (DENR-8) has joined the global effort to raise the awareness about the value of wetlands for the community and the environment by celebrating World Wetlands Day on Feb. 2. Atty. Crizaldy M. Barcelo, CESO III, DENR-8 regional director told reporters that the day marks the adoption of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International importance on February 2, 1971 in Ramsar City, Iran. Director Barcelo explained that “Wetlands for a sustainable urban future” highlighted this year’s celebration. “This focuses on important ways wetlands make cities livable.
