Fishpond operators and workers here have expressed apprehension of how the summer months ahead will adversely affect their livelihood as some ponds have already been dried up this early. Dionisio F. Camarao, a fishpond operator, caretaker and also an incumbent barangay official of Biday, one of the highest producers of fishpond delicacies in the city, said a one-hectare pond in his village has already started drying up. There were 120 hectares of fishponds sowed with milk- fish, native tilapia and shrimps in six barangays, that include Lingsat, Dalumpinas Este, Carlatan, Bangcusay and San Vicente, in this city, and about 100 hectares are already beginning to dry-up even as summer has not started.en
