Iloilo embarks on massive riverbank reforestation

The Iloilo Provincial Government through the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) has embarked on massive tree planting along river banks in the province. Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. recently approved the release of P300,000 for stream bank reforestation along Asue River in Brgy. Agbobolo, Ajuy; Aganan River in Brgy. Sta. Cruz, San Miguel; Jalaud River in Brgy. Tabucan, Barotac Nuevo; Tangyan River in Brgy. Igtalongon, Igbaras; Aganan River in Brgy. Bagumbayan, Alimodian; and Sibalom River in Brgy. Poblacion, Tigbauan. ART for CCA uses the "ridge-to-reef" approach which refers to the planting of tree seedlings in upland areas and planting of mangrove propagules in coastal area.
