Three bays in Eastern Visayas are contaminated with the red tide toxin, a report from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 8 (DA-RFO) said Wednesday. Francisco C. Rosaroso, chief of the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS), told Manila Bulletin that the Matarinao Bay in Salcedo Eastern Samar, Maqueda Bay in Villareal, and Irong-irong Bay in Catbalogan City, both in Samar, have the red tide toxin. Based on the laboratory analysis of samples collected by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources regional office, the toxin level in all three bays were beyond the regulatory limit.en
