Two hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelis Imbricata), the most endangered sea turtle in the world, were rescued and released recently to the Sulu Sea, their natural habitat and foraging ground. Dr. Filemon G. Romero, professor Emeritus of Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi said that a local resident of Sitangkai town had kept the turtles in captivity for years and reared them as pets. The team learned about the hawksbill turtles after Altan Ishmael, a marine biology graduate and staff of MSU-Tawi-Tawi photographed and posted images of the turtles on his Facebook account.en
