An umbrella organization of small fishermen here is urging the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and local government units (LGUs) to strengthen efforts against commercial fishing in municipal waters of the province. Negros Occidental Small Fishers Association (NOSFA) acting head Abcede Jardinico said commercial fishing vessel operations continue to affect the livelihood of a small fishermen. NOSFA plans to meet with BFAR officials and heads of LGU here to discuss ways and means by which the issue is resolved.
