local.descriptionThe Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is pushing for stronger coordination to be able to complete the road works by the time world-famous Boracay Island will reopen to tourists on October 26. For instance, Boracay’s road network is very chaotic. There are simultaneous demolition and extraction of debris while there are excavation and diggings for the drainage system and sewage system. The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), an attached agency of the Department of Tourism (DOT), is still working on the completion of a drainage system that aims curb flooding problems, especially during the rainy season.en
