The provincial government of Davao Oriental cited the efforts of farmers and fisherfolks in strengthening food security and socio-economic development in the province during the annual celebration of Farmers and Fisherfolks Day here last week. Awards were given to outstanding farmer and fisherfolk cooperators, employees and technicians who excelled in various agricultural fields. Gov. Corazon Malanyao also attributed the recently recorded 6.5 percent drop poverty incidence in Davao Oriental to the increased agricultural production of farmers and fisherfolks in the area.
