The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has formed the Regional Law Enforcement Coordinating CommitteeSubcommittee on Fishing and Marine Environment Protection (RLECC-SFMEP) in Eastern Visayas to strengthen its campaign against illegal fishing. BFAR Regional Director Juan Albaladejo said the committee will coordinate policies or procedures to facilitate cooperation and integration of efforts among member-agencies, and ensure a unified front in fighting illegal fishing. The group is composed of representatives from the regional offices of the Department of Interior Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Maritime Industry Authority (Marina), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Department of Agriculture (DA).
