West Philippine Sea - an unfinished advocacy of Letty Shahani
Excerpt
The last advocacy which the late Letty Shahani, diplomat politician, educator, development and culture advocate, took up with such intense passion, was that of the country’s sovereign right to the West Philippine Sea(WPS). As in her other advocacies – women and children’s rights, culture and education, rule of law and governance, and international relations – she approached all these within a holistic framework, one that weighed lessons from the past, futuristic concerns, and various economic, social, political, cultural, humanistic implications. Those of us who have lived close to Philippine waters could then empathize with her feelings of protectiveness over our rights to our national territory.
