    Excerpt
Senator Cynthia Villar has emphasized the importance of Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and Eco-Tourism Area (LPPCHEA), a unique space in Metro Manila, as a bird sanctuary and mangrove haven. LLPCHEA gained international recognition on March 5, 2013 when it became designated as site no. 2124 in the Ramsar Convention list of Wetlands and International Importance. Over 2,200 sites in the world are included in the list as recognition of their “significant value not only for the country or the countries in which they are located, but for humanity as a whole”.
