Saving marine turtles the Cenro-Masinloc way
Excerpt
Community Environment and Natural Resources office (Cenro) in Masinloc, trained environmental law enforcers and community conservation partners in Masinloc and Oyon Bay Protected Landscape and Seascape (MOBPLS) and the coastal towns in Zambales to strengthen the protection and conservation of the country’s endangered marine wildlife in the area. The 7,558-hectare MOBPLS, which straddles the towns of Masinloc and Palauig in Zambales, is Central Luzon’s first and only Marine Protected Area (MPA) under the Expanded National Integrated Protected Area System (E-Nipas) Act of 2018. Established under Republic Act (RA) 11038, the MOBPLS remains as a vital and strategic marine protected area in the West Philippine Sea in Central Luzon, playing a key role in biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource management.
