Authorities have launched an investigation following a report of alleged dynamite fishing along the shores of Barangay Punta Engaño in Lapu-Lapu City on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Punta Engaño Barangay Captain Crisanto Estardo told SunStar Cebu on Wednesday, March 4, that the City Government, through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro), coordinated with him after Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” King-Chan directed officials to take action. Chan issued the directive, noting that the barangay is a well-known tourism area with several hotels.
