    Excerpt
The Manila Water Foundation and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – National Capital Region (BFAR-NCR) have released 70,000 ‘ayungin’ fingerlings at the spillway of La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City. Ayungin, or silver perch, scientifically called Leiopotherapon plumbeus, is also known locally as bugaong, bigaong, and bagaong. They are silver theraponid fish and a highly prized endemic freshwater species in the Philippines, often found in Laguna de Bay.
