The Department of Environment and Natural Resources office in Region 6 (DENR-6) topped the National government's National Greening Program (NGP) in 2014 after exceeding it's target for the year. DENR-6 Regional Director Jim Sampulna said 12,108 hectares of forest and coastal areas have been reforested in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces. "It was beyond our target of 12,105 hectares," Sampulna said.
