Over 600 fish farmers in the country participated in the recent two-day First National Conference of Fishpond Operators at Manila Garden Hotel, sponsored by the Philippine Federation of Aquaculturists. Observers said it was the best attended conference of fishpond operators and the most instructive since the federation was formed in 1964. Most outstanding and well received were a discussion on the shrimp and prawn culture by Dr. Victor Mancebo of San Miguel Corp. and a talk on Nile tilapia culture and vermiculture by Dr. Rafael Guerrero III of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center.
