A cargo ship carrying 23 crew capsized in the sea of Surigao del Norte on Friday morning, Feb. 10, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported. LCT Pacifica 1 was traversing the sea between Hinatuan Island and Bucas Grande Island when big waves about three meters high slammed into the ship, said Commodore Armando Balilo, PCG spokesperson. Waters then entered the engine room of the vessel, causing engine trouble and steering casualty, until it capsized around 8:30 a.m.
