Members of the media in Negros Occidental not only report the news, but also help preserve the environment. For four consecutive years, the Negros Press Club (NPC) has partnered with telecommunication giant Smart Communications Inc. in sustaining a watershed in Sta. Rosa village of Murcia, Negros Occidental. For this year, some 130 volunteers joined the press recently in planting 1,500 seedlings of various species indigenous to the area that the Bacolod City (Region 6) office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-6) and the Negros Occidental Provincial Environment Management Office provided.
