    Excerpt
Pope Francis, in his prepared but undelivered speech during his encounter with the youth held Sunday at the University of Santo Tomas, challenged Filipinos to contribute to environmental care. “Today, I ask you to do this in the context of your own lives and your commitment to the building up of Christ’s kingdom,” the Pontiff said, adding that the just use and stewardship of the planet’s resources are urgent tasks. Three months ago, the country’s bishops addressed the said issue in a prophetic Pastoral Letter, asking everyone to think about the moral dimension of the people’s activities, lifestyles, and the use of earth’s resources.
