The Philippines and Taiwan are expected to sign this first quarter a Fisheries Facilitation Agreement that should enforce existing laws on fishing between the Taiwan and Northern Luzon seas, overlapping exclusive economic zones of the two economies. Chairman Amadeo Perez R. Perez Jr., of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) or the Philippines' de facto embassy for Taiwan, told reporters in an interview that the proposed agreement had been submitted to the Department of Justice since last year for further study. After the DOJ study, it will be elevated to the Office of the President for approval.en
