    Excerpt
"The first to beat the French," was how Norwegian chef Terje Ness referred to himself upon his arrival in Manila. And it's no idle boast either. The 32-years-old chef who is in town for Mandarin Oriental Manila's " Nowhere but Norway" promotion at the Tivoli Grill, bested chefs from 22 nations, including France, in the 1999 Bocuse d' Or world championship event.
