Typhoon "Odette" (International Name "Rai") entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Dec. 14, 2021 and shortly intensified into a category 5 super typhoon across the Visayas and Mindanao. In just 28 hours, Odette left over 8.8 million people affected, 9 million displaced, and 36 million homes damaged or destroyed, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
