    The Philippines is the " center of the center" of marine biodiversity in the world, according to renowned marine scientist led by Dr. Kent Carpenter. Indeed, as a sea nation, our country harbours a wealth of marine resources that provide food to about 50 million Filipinos, and long-term livelihood to 1.8 million fisherfolk. the Philippines plays a significant role in feeding the world , as top 11th exporter of wild- caught fish.
