The grounding of a Vietnamese cargo vessel last Monday has damaged 2,000 square meters of coral reef near Legazpi City Port in Albay, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said yesterday. PCG learned about the extent of the damage of “M/V Ocean 03” to the coral reefs after its personnel from Coast Guard Station (CGS) Albay checked out the affected area. “The incident was reported by Renan Del Mundo of Bantay Dagat-Legazpi to CGS Albay, which immediately deployed its men along with representatives from the Port State Control Division,” PCG spokesperson Commander Armand Balilo said.en
