Philippine and US sailors and Marines will hold bilateral military exercises near the Spratlys Islands amid tensions over territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea). The United States will send its littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) for this year's iteration of the annual Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT 2015) Philippines exercises off Palawan. On the part of the Philippines, it will send two of the country's up-to-date warships, BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PF-15) and BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PF-16).
